Our goal is to look at coral calcification at the cellular level and more specifically 1) investigate the biology of \u00a0primary cilia in different tropical coral species and under different experimental conditions and 2) investigate the processes of endo\/exocytosis in the model tropical coral <em>Stylophora pistillata<\/em>. Ultimately, we aim at understanding how these cellular processes are linked to the physiology of calcification in tropical corals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Candidate profile:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PhD degree in\u00a0 cell Biology or cell Physiology,<\/li>\n<li>Experience in electron and confocal microscopy techniques,<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of molecular and bioinformatics approaches,<\/li>\n<li>Scientific background on primary cilia and\/or exo\/endocytosis processes and\/or related aspects of cell biology\/cell physiology,<\/li>\n<li>A background in studying calcifying organisms is an advantage,<\/li>\n<li>Ability and willingness to conduct laboratory work,<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills in English,<\/li>\n<li>Ability to write publications for peer-reviewed scientific journals,<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and self-guided, but likewise within an interdisciplinary research team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Initial appointment (ca. 2800 euros net + health insurance and pension) is for 12-months, with possibility of extension for a second year (subject to funding and performance). It will ideally start in March\/April 2021.
